The 2025 CAMP Conference will be a two-part virtual series occurring one day in the summer (June 18th) and one day in the fall (date to be determined). The goal of the first session is to network, gain USDA insights, and provide educational curriculum. The second session will be the business meeting to cover aspects such as CAMP committees, bylaws, and other membership topics.
An additional elective “open house” networking opportunity will be hosted by Lucy Pauley (host of the 2026 CAMP Conference in Wyoming) on June 17th.

June 17, 2025: Elective Pre-session “Open House” Networking Opportunity

12:30pm – 2:30pm: Open House
- Moderator: Lucy Pauley, Wyoming AMP
- This is our chance to explore mediation issues, funding concerns, activities taking place in your state and whatever else you want to chat about. Envision this time as an open house format where you can pop in when you are available. Breakout rooms can be utilized if people want to visit about specific topics.

11:00am – 1:00pm: USDA presentation
- Facilitator: Tracy Jones, USDA Program Management Specialist
- Facilitator: Marquita Peoples, USDA Program Analyst
1:00pm – 2:00pm: Break
2:00pm – 3:00pm: Two Practice Challenges in Mediation: Promoting fair play while maintaining impartiality and identifying and responding to common cognitive bias issues that arise in conflict.
- Presenter: Douglas Thompson
- Douglas Thompson has 35 years of experience as a practitioner and teacher of dispute resolution and has mediated environmental and public policy conflicts, family and community matters and civil court cases. He continues to teach part time in the University of Massachusetts Graduate Program in Conflict Resolution and previously worked at the Consensus Building Institute, the Keystone Center and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
3:00pm – 4:00pm: Reflecting on the history and evolution of agriculture in the United States and gaining comfort with the ‘Messy Middle’ and agriculture.
- Presenter: Joy Kirkpatrick
- Joy Kirkpatrick is a Farm Management Outreach Specialist with a focus on farm succession planning and farmer wellbeing. With over 30 years of Extension experience, she is a leading expert in educational programming that supports farmers.
4:00pm – 4:30pm: Debriefing and Next Steps for CAMP
